Standard EN40 relating to poles
All the compositions have been made in strict compliance with standard
EN40. For any requests for products that are not in the catalogue or for
stronger wind zones, please contact our sales suppor t depar tment if we
can design products to meet the resistance requirements of your project.
European standard EN40 applies to all public lighting poles made of steel,
aluminium, composite or concrete as well as straight poles that do not exceed
20 meters, poles with brackets that do not exceed 18 meters and straight
poles fitted with spotlights that are less than 15 meters high.
Standard EN40 defines the methodology of verification of a pole by calculation
or by mechanical testing. It also specifies the compliance tests that are to be
carried out while manufacturing poles. It requires CE cer tification for poles.
All public lighting poles made of steel and aluminium are calculated by our
R&D depar tment according to:
•
EN40-3-1 Specification for characteristic loads
•
EN40-3-3 Verification by calculation
A verification by calculation takes into account all the fixing elements of
a complete lighting point such as anchor bolts,, base plates, poles, bracket
mounting, brackets, luminaires and accessories.
CE certification of poles
CE cer tification is mandatory. It authorises the release of products in the
market. Cer tification is issued by organisations notified by the Member States
of the European Union.
A label with the CE mark is put on all poles, on the service door.
The label also bears the name of the company, the number of the cer tifying
organisation, the approval number of the company and the product code.
With every invoice, you will be given a document with general information
about the product and its agreed conventional value. That conventional value is
calculated on the basis of the elements defined by the standard for the 24m/s
wind area, the terrain category 2 and the deformation class 3.
